--- THE MUSEUM OF PAST FUTURES ---
My master's final project in Image Design focused on analyzing the social and cultural impact of events dedicated to new media, with a special emphasis on Futureplaces. This event, part of the UT Austin-Portugal program in Digital Media and held annually in Porto, was the main subject of study. I opted for a fieldwork approach, acting as both observer and participant to fully grasp the event's mission. The analysis was based on comparing field experience with the social, cultural, and media commitments assumed by Futureplaces since its inception.
This study aims to be both practical and documentary, seeking to reconstruct a retrospective of the festival. To do so, I developed a physical archive with objects and materials from various editions of Futureplaces, aiming to produce an exhibition. Through this process, I aimed to provide insights into the festival's evolution and its contribution to citizen empowerment.
